Airline Breathing Apparatus

Airline Breathing Apparatus is typically used for applications which demand longer duration of air supply, and to reduce fatigue from carrying self contained breathing apparatus. Often the equipment is used in Confined Spaces, where a Self Contained BA set is not practical due to the size and location of the cylinder. Airline Equipment is fed either from a high pressure cylinder source or directly from a medium pressure compressor. Compressed air must be of breathable quality to EN12021, to ensure the user is not contaminated by the air. In factory installations the air will be supplied to the point of use via a ring main, and then hoses run from there, but for portable equipment like mobile compressors and trailers the equipment will feed a hose of up to 100 metres to the user. One of the critical elements of Airline Breathing Apparatus is that a user must have 2 sources of air supply, so that should one fail, the other will continue to provide air to the user without compromising safety.
