The HSE have recently updated legislation on the rules surrounding welding within confined spaces and issued some additional guidance as per the extract below:
‘Work involving the use of asphyxiant welding gases whilst persons are in a confined space should be avoided. If such work is essential, effective arrangements will be required to prevent accumulation of the asphyxiant gas and suitable respiratory protective equipment (RPE) will be required. In these circumstances, the RPE should use an independent air supply, i.e. fresh air hose, compressed air line or self-contained breathing apparatus.’
We are please to introduce a brand new product to our range - BAC Lite Breathing Air Compressor.
This new unit provides high volume breathable air supply for up to 4 users, and is designed specifically for surface preparation, coatings and hot works where a high volumes of air are required for long durations. The unit offers a reliably compliant breathing air supply as an alternative to a standard compressor and filtration system. For any users that require mobile breathable air there is now a safe and reliable option at a cost effective price point.
It comes with audible and visual alarms and is trailer mounted for easy transport. The raised air intake ensures the best possible air is supplied to the compressor and a Chalwyn valve and spark arrestor are fitted as standard to comply with requirements for use on petrochemical installations.
These new units will be available for hire or purchase, and can be specified with Airtrack Live Air Quality Monitoring to ensure real time air supply compliance
